Start the day off with a tour of the Pennyroyal Area Museum and the Fire & Transportation Museum. The former Post Office constructed in 1914 is now home to the Pennyroyal Area Museum. The colorful past of southwestern Kentucky comes alive.
See the Night Riders light up the sky during the tobacco war, clairvoyant Edgar Cayce perform his miracles, historic clothing, antique toys and local memorabilia from bygone years. Continue the tour at the Fire & Transportation Museum and see a Model T Ford and other types of transportation used in the early 1900’s.
Next, continue to the Trail of Tears Commemorative Park, situated on a portion of the campground used by the Cherokee Indians on the infamous Trail of Tears, this park includes the gravesites of Chiefs White Path and Fly Smith. Also on site is a restored log cabin Heritage Center and picnic areas.
Enjoy Hopkinsville’s southern hospitality at DOT’S American Restaurant. Relax and enjoy a wonderful meal before heading to Jefferson Davis Monument. This 351-foot concrete obelisk was constructed in the early 1900’s to honor Confederate President Jefferson Davis.

Cruising on the wide-open lake you’ll see picturesque views, birds in their natural habitat, miles of shoreline, lakefront homes, and for those interested, try your luck at fishing in Kentucky Lake.
Next, Maggie’s Jungle Golf is putt-putt at its best! Gaze at a life-size elephant or sit by a water stream as you plan your strategy. You can also take rides through the safari area and view live animals. And don’t forget to stop by their snack shop.
Also, enjoy a five-acre stocked fishing lake with a handicapped accessible pier, disc golf, indoor restrooms, and a Veteran’s Honor Plaza all at Mike Miller County Park. And if you’re traveling during the Christmas Season, you won’t want to miss Christmas in the Park, featuring thousands of lights, figures and displays. Another great park where you can stretch your legs is Calvert City Municipal Park, which features a low-impact paved walking trail.
